She is currently completing her Masters of Social Work at Wurzweiler.  Before pursuing Social Work, Lindsay was an elementary school teacher with a focus on technology integration.  She is the co-founder of a grassroots organization #one2give, which supports shelters and inner city schools throughout the GTA. Lindsay is a Project Give Back and Roots of Empathy instructor.     

]]> 3824 Marni Halpern, Teacher https://projectgiveback.com/team-members/marni-halpern-teacher/ Tue, 28 Feb 2023 18:46:21 +0000 https://projectgiveback.com/?post_type=team-members&p=3822 After witnessing the positive impact Project Give Back had on her three children, Marni Halpern was eager to join the PGB team.  Along with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Manitoba and a Human Resources Management diploma (with an interest in training and development) from Seneca College, Marni has spent many years educating both children and adults.  Marni believes that PGB‘s unique ability to foster self-confidence, empathy, compassion and kindness in the classroom also creates greater advocates and leaders in our community and beyond.  Every week she looks forward to witnessing the magic of PGB in the classroom. Outside the classroom Marni enjoys spending time with family & friends, cooking, baking, biking, reading, volunteering and travelling.

With a background in international development (she lived in the Philippines for a year), corporate training and in teaching, Gillian brings lots of different experiences to share with the students. Having seen the benefit her own two children gained from their own experiences with Project Give Back, Gillian is thrilled to be sharing her passion for giving back. When not supply teaching with the TDSB or doing Project Give Back, Gillian can be found volunteering for other not-for-profit organizations, reading, taking her dog for walks.

Jody’s family is very involved at the Hospital for Sick Children and she feels very strongly about teaching her children about the importance of giving back to the community. Jody holds a Bachelor of Education from York University and a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics from the University of Western Ontario. She is a Primary/Junior teacher with specialist qualifications in Literacy and Guidance.

After both of her children were fortunate enough to participate in Project Give Back, she knew she wanted to be a part of the program. Penny also assists teaching a class with Ellen (which is the highlight of her week) and is an editor for student reports.
